Experience Your Life Blog

As spring, the season of growth and development, approaches, steps to successit is a good time to pause and evaluate your priorities. It is easy to just keep following the day-to-day grind without reflecting on where that pattern of behavior is taking you. It can be invaluable to take a moment and look at the big picture and your place in that larger frame.

I would like to invite you to ask yourself the following three questions:

1. What are the most important things in my life?

2. Am I focusing my daily energy on at least one of those things?

3. If not, why not?

Let's delve a little bit further into this process one question at a time.

Starting with the first question, when was the last time you stopped and really evaluated what is important to you? When we take the time to delineate what we value the most we are then able to make life choices that are in harmony with those priority desires. We can take on the projects that help develop those goals and move toward the things that bring us the most contentment.

When we get in touch with those priority items it allows us to address question 2: Am I focusing my daily energy on the goals that are important to me?  There are lots of distractions around us in our day to day lives and it is easy to lose track of our personal goals. When we have a true focus on what is important to us we know where we are going and each decision in our day has a meaning that leads us towards our desires.

This leads us to the final question: If I am not focusing my energy on the goals that are important to me, then why? It is very normal to put the needs of others ahead of our own and not even realize we are doing it. The demands of work, family, and friends can become easy distractions from taking care of ourselves. The challenge arises when we put our own dreams aside and end up becoming less vital in our ability to take care of our life responsibilities.

So set aside some time just for yourself and ask these three questions.  By staying focused on these vital answers you can rediscover peace of mind, develop a sense of personal strength and vitality, and feel like you are once again on the path to living a healthy productive life.
